- Are you a group of beginners who want to try
sailing for the first time (Level 1)
- Have you sailed before and want to improve your skills (Level 2)
- Do you want to try something different
on your holiday to make it special?
- Are you sailing on the second
week of your holiday, and would like to take a few days the week before
to refresh yourself and your 'crew'?
- Would you prefer
to learn in the warm, tranquil Ionian Sea, or the cold, grey waters of
Northern Europe?

An excellent Learn to Sail package for those who prefer
to sleep ashore rather than on a Yacht.
During this
two day course (Level 1), the complete beginner to
sailing will be shown how to:
- tie knots
correctly and perform general rope work
- steer a boat
under power and sail
- handle the sails
- moor and
anchor a yacht
- navigate using basic navigation skills
...and all the other things which lead up to
helping to handle a yacht safely and competently. Best described as an
'introduction to yachting for novices'. At the end of a two day course
you should qualify for an 'Introduction to Yachting Certificate'.
Three or four of these two-day courses in combination spread over
your holiday should result in completion of the 'Yacht Crew
Certificate'.
This course is also ideal for an experienced, but
rusty, skipper and crew. They will be taught together to develop their
skills and learn more advanced techniques (Level 2).
This is a particularly popular way for dinghy
sailors to obtain experience of sailing a yacht, before going on to a
yacht training course.
Shore based students
normally start
09.30 and are back at base about 17.00. Lunch (which is not
included in the price) will be taken either ashore in a nearby port or
as an onboard picnic.
Tuition is in
English. Our training yachts are based in Nidri and this is where all
lessons start and end.
This is a
popular
course, and it is normally necessary to reserve in advance to
avoid disappointment. Complete beginners (Level 1)
should regard it as an enjoyable introduction to yachting. Those with
prior experience (Level 2) should regard it as a chance to increase their
experience before going on to a more advanced course for certification.
